ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY MIC [Minimum Inhibitory Concentration] The preliminary evaluation on Plantaserv Q has been performed by MIC test [Minimum Inhibitory Concentration]. MIC is a turbidimetric evaluation that designed to determine the needed concentration of a preservative to inhibit the microbial growth. This test is extremely important in order to define the efficacy of the preservative and the sensitivity of different microorganisms to a given preservative. The following are the technical information on the MIC evaluations on Plantaserv Q. Microorganism | ATCC American Type Culture Collection | MIC | | | | BACTERIA GRAM + | | | Staphylococcus Aureus | 6538 | 5000 ppm | Staphylococcus Epidermidis | 12228 | 5000 ppm | | | | BACTERIA GRAM - | | | Pseudomonas Aeruginosae | 9027 | 5000 ppm | Pseudomonas Putida | 49128 | 2500 to 5000 ppm | Escerichia Coli | 8739 | 5000 ppm | Enterobacter Aerogenes | 13048 | 5000 ppm | Proteus Vulgaris | 13315 | 5000 ppm | Serratia Marcescens | 8100 | 5000 ppm | | | | YEAST | | | Saccharomices Cerevisiae | 2366 | 2500 ppm | Candida Albicans | 10231 | 2500 ppm | | | | MOULD | | | Aspergillus Niger | 16404 | 2500 ppm | Aspergillus Flavus | 9643 | 2500 ppm | Pennicillium Notatum | 9178 | 2500 ppm | Preservative Efficacy The antimicrobial activity of Plantaserv Q has been tested in detail by a simulated microbial attack, better known as a \'Challenge Test\'. The Challenge Test allows the evaluation of the real capacity of not only preventing microbial contamination, but reducing it to where it becomes safe for human health, once contamination has occurred. The following are the technical information on the Challenge Test on Plantaserv Q. Microorganism | ATCC American Type Culture Collection | INOCULUM [Inoculum quantity 1% v/v] | | | | BACTERIA GRAM + | | | Staphylococcus Aureus | 6538 | 108 to 109 u.f.c./ml | | | | BACTERIA GRAM - | | | Pseudomonas Putida | 49128 | 107 to 108 u.f.c./ml | | | | MOULD | | | Aspergillus Flavus | 9643 | 106 to 107 u.f.c./ml | To determine the microbial survival after 7, 14 and 28 days a total viable count is performed and the results graded as: Adequate : Microbial survival < 0.2% Debatable : Microbial survival < 1% [ie between 0.2% & 1%] Insufficient : Microbial survival < 10% [ie between 1% & 10%] Inadequate : Microbial survival > 10% When used as recommended and correctly blended in skincare products Plantaserv Q adequately preserved all products tested, including shampoos, skin tonics, cleansers, conditioners, body milks, emollient masks, moisturisers, gels, creams, scrubs, serums, etc.New Directions Australia Pty Ltd is a wholesaler of natural skin care products.
