INCI: Sodium Benzoate
Sodium Benzoate is the sodium salt of benzoic acid. Sodium benzoate should not be used in combination with certain other food additives, such as ascorbic acid (vitamin C), as it can form benzene, a potentially harmful compound, under certain conditions.
Uses: Sodium Benzoate is primarily used as a preservative to extend the shelf life of cosmetics and skincare products. It helps prevent the growth of microorganisms, such as bacteria and fungi, which can cause products to spoil or become contaminated.
Warning: Causes serious eye irritation. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection.
