Rue oil is a member of the Rutaceae family. This oil has a sharply herbaceous, distinctly fruity orange-like scent, with a bitter back note. It is classed as a top note and blends well with citrus, herby, minty and woodsy oils.
Rue contains anti-fungal and antibacterial properties which make it effective against several types of fungi and a great addition to cleaning products. Its scent is also known to repel insects.
Essential oils can be applied topically once diluted with a carrier oil. They are widely used in cosmetic goods and handmade crafts.
